Nov 13, 2025Love this place, small hidden gem with good variety of healthy plants priced within good reason and a curated little backshop with cool gardening and garden-adjacent items / homewares. Hats from Marfa, tools from Japan, local honey (I think), etc. Nice folks / great vibe

Jul 20, 2025Nice spot reasonably priced had stuff others did not have in a pretty big radius. Helpful and brought plants to my car thank you and had a good suggestion so we purchased another plant. I only went for Yerba Buena clinopodium douglassi satureja as they’re the only store in a 50-100 mile radius that has it available. I also purchased another plant with delivery date 10+ days out as of today and they had it there so purchased locally. Wish I would have waited now I have to deal with a return. They also had Desert Globemallow and other plants unavailable elsewhere. Thanks again!

May 4, 2025Both this location and the one on Rowena are stellar. They have a great selection of California natives, are generous with their advice, and are just lovely humans. I have spent far too much of my money with Plant Material, and wouldn’t change it for the world.

Oct 14, 2024Almost five years ago now I came here and with the help of the owner picked out an entire native + climate appropriate plant garden for my house. 5 years later the plants are all living their best life in a garden not far from the Plant Material nursery. To my knowledge there isn’t anywhere else in the immediate neighborhood you could do that. Call it patchwork ecology, call it pollinator pathways, call it what you like: there’s an opportunity for folx in our community to support California’s biodiversity and water goals and here is a one stop shop.
