A note to everyone, the greenhouses are closed on Tuesday. We had no idea. It’s still a beautiful place but we couldn’t see everything because it was a Tuesday. Libraries offer free passes for tours and such

I’ve been visiting Planting Fields since I was a kid, and it just keeps getting better. What used to be a simple visit for a few hours has transformed into an experience that truly showcases New York State’s investment in this historic site. With more trails, stunning plantings, and preserved natural beauty, it’s a true Gold Coast mansion from another era. Whether you’re there to explore, learn, or just take in the surroundings, there’s always something happening. It’s a place where you can appreciate the history, landscape, and untouched nature of Long Island. Words really don’t do it justice—it’s something you have to experience for yourself.
