Cannon Green

enjoyed a wedding rehearsal dinner here. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent even with them serving a room full.

This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had dealing with a wedding venue downtown. The service was absolutely terrible from start to finish. Emails went unanswered, phone calls were never returned, and the owner did not respond despite me leaving multiple messages. I went down there several times in person and spoke with multiple people, yet nothing ever moved forward. No follow-up, no accountability, no professionalism. We could never reach an agreement because no one would actually communicate when they said they would. We were also told that if certain things couldn’t be done, they would accommodate a dinner instead that turned out to be completely untrue. We were essentially lied to and treated unfairly, which is unacceptable, especially for something as important as a wedding. I’ve lived in Charleston my entire life, and I can honestly say I do not recommend this place at all. If you value clear communication, honesty, and basic customer service, go somewhere else. This venue will tell you they’ll get back to you and then they simply won’t. They will take your money and not reach out to you as promised. Very disappointing experience.

Why only two stars for this wedding venue? Here’s my review for my son’s wedding held on 12/13/25. We held both the wedding service and reception there. Pros: 1. The Court Yard was set up nicely for the service. The small number of staff required for the set up and take down were efficient and unnoticeable. 2. The Trolley Room was set up nicely for the dinner and entertainment and the space was adequate for the 125 guests and the bridal party of 18. Guests were allowed to use both the Courtyard and Trolley Room for the reception activities. 3. The reception featured a live band. The stage area was adequate and the dance floor was of sufficient size for the number of guests. Cons: 1. The food that was served was inconsistent and dissapointing and very different in quality from the initial “tasting meal” provided prior to booking the venue. Only a meager amount of bread was provided to begin the meal, only eight very small pieces of oil soaked bread for 10 people per table. Bread refill requests were ignored. The main course consisted of either airline chicken, which was dry and not well seasoned, or beef filet, which in many cases was overcooked and dry. 2. The food service was extremely slow with almost 30 minutes between the salad and main course. In fact, management had to be summoned to get the main course out of the kitchen. 3. The wait staff was, for the most part, inexperienced and unattentive. They appeared to be “contract help” brought in strictly for the event. Several times the servers let glasses fall off of their trays while collecting them which shattered into pieces. Guests had to pitch in to clean up broken glass from the floor. Overall Impression: The owner is clearly putting much more resources and effort into their “Zero George” restaurant that is connected to the other side of the Courtyard (which just received a Michelin star and is under the same roof), than the “Cannon Green” event venue. They have a lot of work to do to bring up the quality of Cannon Green if they want to be a player in the wedding venue market in Charleston, SC. For now, look elsewhere.

My October wedding at Cannon Green was an absolute dream. Eden and the entire team were exceptional—kind, flexible, and genuinely excited to help make my vision a reality in their already-beautiful space. One small detail I had dreamed of was Spanish moss, and they graciously approved my florist to bring it in. It completely elevated the space and felt literally magical. The food was outstanding—our guests are still raving, and my husband and I still talk about the lobster ravioli amuse-bouche whenever the topic of wedding food comes up. We couldn’t have chosen a more perfect venue to start the rest of our lives. ✨💚

After touring a few different venues in Charleston, we knew Cannon Green made the most sense for us! It was the perfect size for our 85 guests, and the courtyard was a beautiful space to have the ceremony and the cocktail hour. I felt secure knowing there was a good rain plan, as they have a custom tent that fits over the courtyard. There was a chance of rain the week of our wedding, but we ended up not needing it! Most of our guests were in from out of town, and there are a ton of airbnbs in the area, which made it easy for the guests as they could guest walk over at the end of the night. Cannon Green does not have a getting ready space, so we rented an airbnb as well as a bridal suite and it worked perfectly. One other highlight was the food! We did stations instead of a sit down dinner, and everyone loved the variety, people were going back for second and third helpings. Thanks Cannon Green for a perfect day!
