The Big Greenhouse

Came in to buy a plant for a friend I was visiting. Young person (Ash) was a bit busy opening when I got there but once she finished counting the drawer her vibrant personality helped elevate the plants. Loved her attitude. Will suggest this place to local friends, just wish it was ready to open at open.

I visited this place while I was on a trip out of town. This place is a gem and a must visit for planf enthusiasts. I will revisit anytime I'm in town and the prices are reasonable!

If you need a beautiful maidenhair fern, Lady Slipper orchid or another hard to find house plant in the perfect container, you need to visit the Big Greenhouse on Spring Garden St in Greensboro. Pat, who has been creating beauty there for decades, is as lovely as the floral artistry that she prepares for her devoted clientele. While Pat works, you can admire fabulous antiques and might even receive a rub from a friendly cat. More like a visit to a collector's home than a trip to a plant shop, a visit to the Big Greenhouse is a treat for the senses.

I have popped into this spot for years, having long enjoyed seeing Pat (who pretty much is an encyclopedia of knowledge) and Larry, the dedicated owner. I've bought antiques here, too, but plants are the reason I began seeking them out (from their early years exhibiting at Super Flea). They are knowledgeable and kind, ready to help and advise, on everything from plant hardiness to holiday decor. Places like this are invaluable, not merely because of their offerings, but because they are so personally invested in their customers. I wish I were retired and could come in more often, as I always learn something just by stopping in...The temptation is just too great, given the incredible antiques and decorative items, and their array of plants. Lovely place, and lovely people!

Love the Big Greenhouse . I always seem to come home with something. Such a nice variety of beautiful plants. Very knowledgeable staff. Would highly recommend this place.
