Ricky's Flower Market

I always buy Christmas trees here. The staff are friendly, helpful and staffed conveniently around to help out. They have a bunch of other plants and related paraphernalia I would like to check out sometime as well!

Had the pleasure of finding this gem tucked right in Somerville and meeting the owner Ricky. He and his team are incredibly passionate about what they do and personally source their plants seasonally around the globe. They have everything under the sun in their shop, do yourself a favor and visit his shop.

My family has been going to Ricky's for 15+ years now for our holiday tree and carving pumpkins. We always find a great tree. I love that Ricky's is locally owned, and is a small, outdoor market in an otherwise increasingly stale, architectural milieu. I know the city has put pressure on this site in the past to be converted into another boring mid-rise, and I am hoping Ricky's will be able to maintain their way of business for as long as they want to.

Good customer service, but their plants are infested with millipedes. I specifically asked about pests in their soil and he assured me there would be no issue. Now I have a lot of millipedes crawling out of my plants. They are very large plants which make it difficult to treat. I'm about to throw out $900 worth of plants.

If you care about the cost, I recommend going elsewhere. Any decent size tree here is above $100, most are over $130. They have tiny trees at $80. The last two years they hiked prices like no other place. Go to Home Depot. Way cheaper, wider selection, fresher due to higher turnover. That’s what I did this year.
