Sunset Valley Orchids

My first issue came when, without informing me or asking they replaced a coerulea bifoliate for 2 seedlings they didn't have on their website, it feels like substituting with leftovers is what they did. He said they are "Super" so I kept them, hey 1 mistake is not a deal breaker. Then came the delays in shipping and so I had to chase them, inform them I was going out of town and it was best they postponed the shipping, they decided to reply with a tracking number so I had to make arrangements, pain in the neck but I love opening a box of Orchids. My love for orchids blind me. I ordered again and again for years and thousands of hard earned money. When their Anceps divisions were published I ordered 3, mind you most are over 100USD. They sent the plants and when one finally opened it was not what I wanted and I wrote Fred about it, he did not offer to chance, replace, return, nothing, only offer a guess of and ID for the plant "White marble" and added the 4N to the name, which the plant does not show to have the expected characteristics of a tetraploid plant. Is the slowest in my collection and has the smallest flowers too. The real issue came right after the mislabeled plant and my attempt to buy other Anceps divisions. He stopped answering emails, no luck on the phone. I followed up on my request after a week, and 2 weeks later he replied telling me that one of the requested divisions was not available, when I asked about the other 2 in my request, he also said "no we don't have them". Considering that 3 weeks went by he didn't apologize or offer to be put on a waiting list or offer any alternatives, basically putting up a wall. After sharing the situation on social media, out of the blue Fred Clarcke sends me an "updated" list where L anceps lineata Clows is listed again with two divisions available (one he told me he didn't have the night before) and also listed in this excel file is "White Marble" but his lists has no 4N. What bothered me the most was him saying that the lack of responsiveness was "my guys" fault, throwing his employees under the bus. The plants are ok, but if you think you are getting what you ordered and when you ordered it, think twice. And if you have to deal with Fred Clarke on something they did wrong... well good luck!

Incredible orchid farm. They have multiple, massive tents with an unbelievable number of orchids in a wide variety. The owner creates truly beautiful hybrids. The prices are very reasonable.
