The Plant Store

Had such a lovely visit yesterday and am in love with the Odora Batik I brought home. Always kind and helpful team members around and such an inclusive space. Thank you!

I took a terrarium class here with my school-age daughter. The class was incredibly fun, well-taught, and we adore our terrariums. A excellent value for money. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable about plants, with a strong academic and practical background, and I know where I will come in the future. We can’t wait to take another class. Parking was easy nearby, and the store and class were very accessible (I use a wheelchair.)

Just made a terrarium at a class here with Miles and this store and the staff have great vibes. Just the right amount of sass :) And anyone who says they have too much sass just doesn't have a sense of humor. Plants I've bought here in the past are healthy and have done well at home. I need to tell the zz plant I bought here to calm the hell down actually because I've only had it about 6 months and it needs to be repotted already it's getting so big. I learned a lot in the class at how to not kill the plants in my terrarium, I'm looking forward to buying more plants from them and taking more classes in the future.

I recently bought a new oncidium orchid and have been looking for a large fluted pot to accommodate the new plant. I was in Capitol Hill and decided to stop in with a friend just to see if they had any and to take a look around. They had pots for orchids but kept them on a shelf marked "not for sale" and I had to ask the employee if they were selling them. He seemed a little distracted or stressed, but he seemed happy to answer questions and seemed very knowledgeable on terrariums when my friend was asking him questions about that :) They had quite a large and lovely selection of house plants, considering the small space, but i think the terrariums reflect the true expertise and passion of the staff. Im an orchid person so the rest of the review will be about that! They had a few full size orchids, available, they sell pretty standard Phalaenopsis plants and then also some very handsome Paphiopedilums from Little Orchid Annie, a local grower. Since LOA had to scale back their operation I can understand why there wasn't a super broad selection. As a casual hobbyist it wasn't a groundbreaking selection of normal orchids but i'm sure they get different stuff in all the time! I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity of rare micro orchids that they sold. Micro orchids, aren't really my thing, but they had some pretty cool ones and the worker said that the supplier often runs workshops for making micro orchid, terrariums! I also bought some sphagnum moss and keiki paste. I didn't see any orchid bark for sale. Overall, pretty good and the prices are all right.

I have stopped at the plant store several times, and every time I come in I am greeted warmly, and asked if I need any help. I’m relatively new to growing some of the house plants that I have purchased recently (in store or elsewhere) and Anthony (the employee who always seems to be working when I visit) is always happy to give advice and information. The plant store has a great selection of well cared for, pest-free plants for such a small place, and although I would love to see some more philodendrons and alocacias, I always seem to find something fun to buy when I come in!
